HELL: The Movie

1. The film shows many images of "hell" from the world's spiritual traditions. If you look beneath all those varied images to find the underlying essence of what hellishness is, how would you describe what the essence of hell is?

2. According to the film, what sorts of behaviors, actions and attitudes lead one toward "hell?" I.e., how would you live and act if (ex hypothesi) you wanted to be sure you ended up in a hellish state?

3. The film is about hell, but we might make some deductions about the nature of heaven too. If hell is whatever you answered in Question #1, what would you say the essence of heaven is?

4. And then what sorts of behaviors, actions and attitudes would one do if (ex hypothesi) they wanted to end in a heavenly state?

5. "The gate that leads to damnation is wide, the road is clear, and many choose to travel it. But how narrow is the gate that leads to life, how rough the road, and how few there are who find it." How would you explain the meaning of this saying of Jesus (in Matthew's Gospel), in light of this film?
